Local Business Lead Gen Strategy

Local Business Lead Gen Strategy

Let me start by saying I absolutely love how effective marketing automation is for traditional, non-internet based, businesses.

For most brick and mortar business it only requires a few tweaks to start seeing some really good results online. So I’m always looking for ways to inject local business with some marketing automation goodness.

This week I received the perfect opportunity.

You may not know this about me but when I was in college I taught myself how to cut hair to make ends meet. It proved very lucrative for me. I would make more money cutting hair in one day than most part-time students would make working a job for 20 hours a week.

Guess you can say I’ve always been into business efficiency.

Anywho…this week I got to share a marketing strategy for local salons and barbershops to generate more leads for their business. I intentionally packed it with some strategies that would work for the hair industry and pretty much any local brick and mortar business.

Mindset Meltdown

One of the reason why I love sending out this weekly publication is the intelligent feedback I always receive.

Whether it’s down in the comments, via FB messages, or a direct email reply, I am always amazed at just how smart the people reading these are. With that being said I wanted to run a situation by you I encountered recently.

Someone very dear to me was physically making a holiday gift. They put a lot of tender love and care into making the gift and it looked really good. That’s when the marketer in me just couldn’t hold back (plus I wanted to see what they would say).

I simply asked…”What would you say if I recorded this process and perhaps sold it as a course online?”.

They responded…”I want them to pay me to make it”.

I simply stated, “You would still be getting paid, just more than once for doing something only once.”

Then they said…”Well there are all types of YouTube videos out there people can learn from so why would someone pay me for it?”

So my question today is what would your response have been to this question?

There were so many things wrong with this way of thinking that I just decided to hold my tongue, inhale deeply, and realize that everybody isn’t as motivated as I am to build a leveraged business lifestyle (and that’s okay).

I’ll tell you one thing that really helped me…when I stopped paying attention to what everybody else was doing and what everybody else was offering. I started minding my own business (literally). I didn’t care if the product already existed I was creating it my way for my following to consume.

I unplugged from the rest of the online marketing world and gave myself permission to create. It was one of the most powerful things I’ve ever done in my business.

Would love to hear your response and approach to this situation below.

See you next week!
